Wild, intelligent and extremely caring towards his pack.
There has been a lot of talk about wolves lately, especially in Poland. These beautiful animals don’t have an easy life. With around 2,000 wolves left in Poland, the species is endangered and under strict protection. Poachers and loss of natural habitat are their biggest threats. This is largely due to myths and the false image of wolves as dangerous. Some media creates an image of a hostile animal, a threat. Truth is, we are a threat to them.
Wolves are intelligent animals and play an important role in forest ecosystems. They control herbivore populations, as well as smaller predators, and clean their environment from carrion. Wolves are a part of healthy forest ecosystems, fomenting biodiversity and richer flora and fauna, adding to the intangible value of wooded regions around the world.
We should educate ourselves and others on how to react in encounters, and how to protect their environment. Protecting these animals and changing their negative image will only add to our own well-being.
