I had few animals in mind for the black color palette – fun animals to draw and illustrate. I think the choice was obvious from the very beginning, though. A powerful symbol of many tales and legends, and a fascinating animal for its surprising intelligence.
The entire corvid family is considered not only as one of the most intelligent families of birds, but also one of the most intelligent animals. You can easily find videos and articles about the abilities of those birds. Crows can plan for the future and adapt to new situations by observing and learning from humans.
They can use tools and even make new ones to solve problems. It has been studied that a thirsty crow can drop stones into a water pitcher to raise the water level to take a drink. These fascinating birds can also recognize human faces, remember what a specific person did to them and even pass on a grudge to their offspring.
So next time you will see a crow try not to annoy it. It will remember you and probably pay you back.
